Medical Laboratory Scientist – Chemistry/Core Lab

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technician to join its Chemistry/Core Lab. The role involves receiving, preparing, and testing specimens to support diagnosis and treatment, while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process specimens according to standard protocols.
• Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests, calculations, and data entry.
• Conduct quality control, instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
• Follow safety, regulatory, and accreditation guidelines, including proficiency testing.
• Manage supply and reagent inventory and support performance‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or related scientific field.
• Current Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license or trainee permit; must obtain full license within 90 days.
• ASCP, AMT, or AAB generalist certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
