Medical Emergency Team Nurse – Night Shift

About the role

Join the Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital team as a Medical Emergency Team (MET) Nurse on the night shift. The MET Nurse proactively identifies patients at risk of clinical deterioration outside the ICU and Emergency Department, coordinates timely interventions, and stabilizes patients before rapid response or code blue events.

Key responsibilities

• Identify high‑risk patients, assess acute changes, and implement action plans.
• Respond to rapid response and code blue calls, provide critical care nursing until patient stability or transfer.
• Lead debriefing sessions, enter cases into quality data tools, and present findings to the Critical Response and Resuscitation Committee.
• Educate bedside staff on emergency response procedures, operate Zoll defibrillators, and conduct mock codes and simulations.
• Review patient lists in the EMR, round on inpatient units, and prioritize interventions for at‑risk patients.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and active RN license in Florida.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Minimum three years of nursing practice in a complex critical care environment.
• Maintain competencies through simulation training and orientation.
