About the role
The School of Medicine at Georgetown University Medical Center seeks a Medical Education Learning Specialist to enhance student learning and provide academic counseling across all four years of the MD program. The specialist will work closely with the Office of Student Learning and Academic Counseling to support medical students in achieving academic and clinical success.
Key responsibilities
- Diagnose root causes of suboptimal academic or clinical performance and develop individualized learning prescriptions.
- Deliver lectures and small‑group sessions on strategies to optimize medical school performance.
- Maintain longitudinal documentation and monitor progress for all consulted students.
- Provide tailored academic counseling and learning plans for M1‑M2 students aligned with pre‑clinical curriculum blocks.
- Offer individualized counseling for M3 students during clinical clerkships.
- Support M2 and M4 students preparing for USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK.
- Report to the Assistant Dean of Student Learning and manage appointments via an online scheduling system.
Required profile
- Master’s, PhD, or EdD in educational psychology, adult learning, or health professions education.
- 1–2 years of experience providing academic counseling to medical students at an allopathic or osteopathic medical school.
