Assistant Professor of Biology (Tenure Track)

About the role

Daemen University’s Natural Sciences and Mathematics department seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Biology to begin in Fall 2027. The role focuses on teaching allied‑health students and advancing undergraduate research.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 21 credits of lectures and laboratory courses, primarily General Biology, Microbiology, and Immunology.
• Teach additional courses aligned with the candidate’s expertise as needed.
• Mentor undergraduate research projects and supervise student involvement in scholarly work.
• Conduct independent research leading to publications in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Provide instruction in both face‑to‑face and online modalities.

Required profile

• PhD in Biology, Microbiology, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education and mentoring.
• Experience with active‑learning strategies in a face‑to‑face setting, preferably at a small institution.
• Strong analytical, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to develop and sustain an active research program involving undergraduate students.
