Medical Doctor – 1099 Contractor for Inmate Care

About the role

We are seeking a licensed Medical Doctor to join our evidence‑based rehabilitation team as a 1099 contractor. You will provide comprehensive medical care to detainees and inmates, serving as the primary clinical contact within a correctional setting.

Key responsibilities

• Examine, diagnose, and treat detainees/inmates referred by nursing staff.
• Prescribe medications, monitor ongoing cases, and initiate dental or psychiatric referrals as needed.
• Manage and evaluate medical program activities to meet industry standards and contractual obligations.
• Document all services and maintain detailed patient medical records.
• Communicate effectively with hospital teams, mental health professionals, nurses, technicians, and administrative staff.
• Provide after‑hours advice to nursing staff and act as liaison with correctional officials and public agencies.
• Maintain professional knowledge through workshops, conferences, and professional societies.

Required profile

• Medical degree from an accredited institution.
• Active license to practice medicine or osteopathic medicine in the state of the facility.
• Minimum two years of direct clinical experience, preferably in a correctional or acute care environment.
• Strong diagnostic, critical‑thinking, and communication abilities.
