Medical Director

About the role

Compass Health Center is expanding its behavioral health services to a new facility in Falls Church, VA, launching in early 2027. The organization seeks an experienced Site Medical Director to lead the development of adolescent and adult PHP/IOP programs, oversee clinical quality, and provide direct patient care within a fast‑growing, physician‑led network.

Key responsibilities

• Directly oversee performance and professional development of psychiatrists and nurse practitioners at the site.
• Support and advocate for admission criteria, clinical practice standards, and operationalize them at the site level.
• Monitor and drive key initiative performance, addressing site‑specific challenges such as coverage gaps, grievances, and complex case consultations.
• Represent the site at executive leadership meetings, Medical Director forums, and regional psychiatry group gatherings.
• Participate in program planning, strategy development, and capacity budgeting in partnership with the Vice President of Compass Psychiatry Group.
• Liaise with local and state agencies, including child welfare, aging services, and law enforcement, to ensure compliance and collaborative care.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading psychiatric or behavioral health programs, preferably in PHP/IOP settings.
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of mentoring clinicians and driving quality improvement.
• Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and build relationships with external agencies.
• Commitment to delivering compassionate, evidence‑based care and advancing innovative psychiatric strategies.
