Medical Billing and Collections Specialist

About the role

Clear Behavioral Health is seeking a Medical Billing and Collections Specialist to manage patient account payments and support the financial operations of our behavioral health services. This full‑time, on‑site position in Torrance involves interacting with patients, staff, and insurance companies to ensure accurate billing and collections.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, post, and manage account payments for patients.
• Answer questions from patients, clerical staff, and insurance companies.
• Compile and track outstanding balances owed to providers.
• Review, research, and resolve unpaid claims using A/R modules and aging reports.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings as required.
• Accurately document all billing activities.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in medical coding or billing.
• Experience with billing, insurance collecting, and patient collections with commercial health insurance payors.

Required skills

• Comprehensive understanding of medical terminology and procedures.
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Ability to read and interpret insurance documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and high accuracy when handling large volumes of claims.
