Medical Assistant – Urology Department (Full-time)

About the role

The Department of Urology at the University of Miami is seeking a full‑time Medical Assistant 1 to provide direct patient care and support clinical procedures. Working on‑site in Miami, the MA will assist physicians and nursing staff while adhering to the institution’s standards of quality, safety, and professionalism.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms with supplies, instruments, and materials for provider examinations.
• Perform routine laboratory tests, vital signs, EKGs, and phlebotomy, documenting results in patient records.
• Administer medication as directed by the physician and assist with patient mobility and transport.
• Maintain sterile technique for instruments, clean and sterilize equipment, and manage inventory of supplies.
• Schedule patients for tests, complete required forms, and provide post‑visit care instructions.

Required profile

• Demonstrates knowledge of basic medical terminology and ethical patient communication.
• Ability to recognize and respond to changes in patient signs or symptoms.
• Adheres to privacy regulations and institutional policies.
