Medical Assistant – Patient Care & Bilingual Support

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to support clinic operations and deliver high‑quality care, especially for Spanish‑speaking patients. The role involves direct patient interaction, clinical procedures, and administrative support within a fast‑paced ambulatory setting.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct patient interviews, record vital signs, and enter data into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
• Draw blood, collect specimens, and prepare them for laboratory analysis.
• Assist with patient examinations, injections, EKGs, wound care, and other procedures.
• Manage patient registration, schedule appointments, handle pre‑authorizations, and route referrals.
• Escort patients to labs or radiology and ensure timely return to exam rooms.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Certified Medical Assistant in Arkansas and Basic Life Support certification.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Phlebotomy skills.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
