Medical Assistant – Orthopedics

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System’s Lutheran Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant to support its Orthopedics providers. You will work in a fast‑paced ambulatory setting, providing both clinical and administrative support to ensure high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and prepare specimens, perform basic lab tests, draw blood, and take electrocardiograms.
• Assist with patient screenings, update health maintenance information, and document changes in patient condition.
• Maintain equipment, medical supplies, and examination areas, and perform clerical duties such as scheduling and patient registration.

Required profile

• Graduate of an approved Medical Assisting program or equivalent military medical training.
• Completion of a clinical externship or extensive clinical experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within the new‑hire period.
• Preferred: Medical Assisting certification and successful completion of a Cleveland Clinic externship.

Required skills

• Taking medical histories and explaining procedures to patients.
• Drawing blood, performing ECGs, removing sutures, and changing dressings.
• Conducting basic laboratory tests and specimen handling.
• Use of office equipment and electronic health record systems.
