Medical Assistant - Orthopedics

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the Orthopaedics‑Ambulatory Operations team at The Richard Jacobs Health Center. You will work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am‑5:00 pm, with occasional rotating evenings and weekends, supporting patient‑first care in a fast‑paced orthopedic setting.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with patient screenings, update health‑maintenance information, identify medication changes, and collect specimens.
• Perform basic tests, document patient care, and monitor changes in patient condition.
• Maintain equipment, medical supplies, and examination areas.
• Handle administrative duties such as filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.

Required profile

• Graduate of an approved medical assisting program or equivalent military training (Hospital Corpsman, Combat Medic, or Medical Service Technician).
• Completion of a clinical externship or extensive clinical experience.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or obtain during new‑hire period).

Required skills

• Medical assisting certification (preferred).
• Successful completion of a Cleveland Clinic externship (preferred).
• Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and handle specimens.
• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods and lift light loads.
