Medical Assistant 3 – Full‑Time Orthopaedics Support

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Orthopaedic Sports Medicine is seeking a full‑time Medical Assistant 3 to support patient care at its Plantation, FL satellite location. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed physician, the MA3 will provide hands‑on clinical assistance, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and contribute to a culturally competent healing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms with necessary supplies, instruments, and materials for orthopaedic procedures.
• Perform vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, and document findings in the patient’s medical record.
• Maintain accurate patient records, order and stock medical supplies, and manage inventory of orthopaedic medications and DME.
• Schedule appointments, enter radiology charges, and coordinate with central sterilization for instrument processing.
• Log weekly staff assignments, provide coverage calendars to the practice manager, and train new medical assistants.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience; minimum 4 years of medical assistant experience.
• Current certification such as CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, or NRCMA and active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Florida HIV/AIDS Healthcare Professional CE certification is preferred.
