Mechanisms Engineer

About the role

Radiant is seeking a highly motivated Mechanisms Engineer to design and develop critical mechanisms for its portable nuclear micro‑reactor, Kaleidos. You will tackle unique challenges in creating efficient, reliable mechanisms that control reactivity and actuate safety features.

Key responsibilities

• Own critical mechanisms such as the control‑blade actuator and air‑jacket valves.
• Conduct trade studies, material selection, detailed thermomechanical and kinematic analysis using hand calculations and finite‑element tools.
• Develop manufacturing/assembly instructions, test plans, and manage Bill‑of‑Materials.
• Find and qualify suppliers, oversee sub‑assembly design, manufacturing, and test schedules.
• Perform risk analysis (FMEA) and communicate requirements and feedback across functional teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
• 3+ years designing mechanisms and performing stress analysis.
• Experience with hand calculations and finite‑element tools (Abaqus, Ansys, FEMAP or similar).
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
