Senior Electrical Engineer

About the role

Rainmaker is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design of complex electrical systems for its innovative weather‑modification platforms. You will work on UAS, dispersion payloads, and sensing systems that help make freshwater available to farms and ecosystems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design of electrical systems, defining requirements, interfaces, and integration strategies.
• Rapidly prototype hardware subsystems and iterate based on test feedback.
• Create schematics and PCB layouts for power distribution, sensor interfaces, payload controllers and communications using Altium.
• Assemble, debug, and validate PCBs; develop test procedures for flight‑condition reliability.
• Produce technical documentation and fabrication data for manufacturers.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, research and manufacturing teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
• 6+ years industry experience in electronics, with 4+ years of professional PCB design using Altium.
• Proven track record leading hardware designs from concept through manufacturing.
• Deep experience with embedded platforms and microcontrollers (Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson, STM32, ESP32, RP2040).
• Experience in high‑speed digital design, power integrity, signal integrity, and EMI/EMC.

Required skills

• Altium (or equivalent) PCB design.
• Embedded programming in C, C++, Rust or Python.
• Board bring‑up, debugging, low‑level driver development for SPI, I2C, UART, CAN.
• Design of power electronics, BLDC motor controllers, ESCs, battery management systems.
• Knowledge of UAV electrical systems, flight controllers, and RF datalinks.
