Senior Manufacturing Engineer, DFM

About the role

Radiant is transitioning its first‑of‑a‑kind portable nuclear micro‑reactor, Kaleidos, from prototype to a repeatable, scalable production system. As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer you will bridge design and factory, ensuring the hardware can be built safely, reliably, and at volume.

Key responsibilities

• Own manufacturing and inspection processes for critical reactor components from design release through final acceptance.
• Partner with design engineers to drive Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFM/DFA), reducing mass, part count, and production risk.
• Develop, qualify, document, and continuously improve processes, work instructions, and inspection strategies for complex mechanical hardware.
• Design and build production tooling, fixtures, lifting equipment, and other manufacturing aids.
• Collaborate with Quality and Test teams to establish acceptance criteria and resolve build issues.
• Investigate defects and non‑conformances using root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers for critical components and processes.
• Define capital equipment and infrastructure needed for current and future production volumes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace engineering or a related discipline.
• 5+ years experience manufacturing complex mechanical hardware in a high‑reliability environment.
• Proven track record partnering with design teams to influence hardware through DFM/DFA.
• Hands‑on experience owning processes from development through qualification and production.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work across design, quality, test, supply chain, and operations.

Required skills

• CAD model review and interpretation.
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Machining, mechanical joining, fastening, alignment, and tolerance control.
• Development of work instructions, process specifications, and inspection plans.
• Root‑cause analysis and corrective‑action implementation.
• Tolerance analysis and stack‑up evaluation.
