Mechanical Engineer I – Accurate Landing Team

About the role

Inversion is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to join the Accurate Landing Team. You will contribute to the design, packaging, and rapid iteration of hardware for next‑generation re‑entry vehicles, supporting both prototype development and flight hardware production.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems and mechanisms for precise vehicle landing.
• Lead development of parachute deployment, control actuation, and drop‑test structures.
• Conduct aerial drop‑test campaigns and qualify designs through vibration, shock, load, and thermal testing.
• Support prototype design, hands‑on integration, fit checks, and issue resolution during build.
• Drive design trades across performance, manufacturability, schedule, and cost.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, test, supply chain, and technician teams from concept to integration.
• Partner with external vendors and suppliers to source parts and accelerate development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 0‑3 years of hands‑on experience developing mechanical systems, structures, or aerospace vehicles.
• Experience with Siemens NX or comparable CAD software.
• Proficiency in hand calculations and fundamental mechanics for design validation.
