Field Service Technician - CNC / PLC Automation

About the role

A provider of integrated automation solutions is expanding in the United States and, through GateSource HR, is hiring a Field Service Technician in Palmdale, California. The technician installs, maintains and optimizes client equipment at the customer site, troubleshooting and repairing CNC-PLC control systems, programming, calibrating, verifying performance and improving processes.

Key responsibilities

• Run programming, calibration and process adjustments to keep machines performing optimally.
• Act as main contact for customers, suppliers and stakeholders, conveying project goals to senior management.
• Carry out final acceptance testing under the Service Manager, following established protocols.
• Solve technical issues during commissioning and after-sales service.
• Update the project coordinator on schedule, work orders, milestones and completion.
• Write technical manuals for operation, troubleshooting and maintenance, and train customers on machine use.
• Keep accurate project records and follow company policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; an associate degree or technical certification is preferred.
• Valid driver's license and legal right to drive in the United States.
• Willingness to travel internationally occasionally.
• Must be able to work without visa sponsorship.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience troubleshooting, repairing and programming PLCs (Siemens, Omron, FANUC) and CNC machines (Siemens, FANUC).
• Experience with drivers, sensors and pneumatic/hydraulic components.
• CNC software: Siemens Sinumerik and Sinumerik Operate.
• PLC software: Siemens TIA Portal V15.
• HMI software and SQL Server Management Studio.
• Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics and mechanical drawings.
