Mechanical Engineer – Ground Weapons System

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer will join deciBel Research's Hardware Engineering team supporting the Ground Weapons System (GWS) program for the Missile Defense Agency. This role involves developing, integrating, testing, and sustaining GWS capabilities in a fast‑paced defense environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and analyze mechanical components using 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, or NX).
• Create and review 2D mechanical drawings in accordance with ASME standards.
• Work with PLM (Teamcenter) and ERP (SAP) systems to manage product data.
• Evaluate vendor documentation and ensure parts meet MIL‑STD and ASME specifications.
• Assess commercial off‑the‑shelf (COTS) and military parts for compliance.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams using Agile/Kanban workflows and tools such as Jira.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (or higher) from an accredited university.
• 2 years of recent design experience with a 3D CAD package, or equivalent education/experience.
• Active Secret security clearance and U.S. citizenship.
• Self‑starter, able to work independently in a dynamic environment.

Required skills

• SolidWorks, Creo, or NX (3D CAD).
• ASME drawing standards (Y14.5, Y14.100) and MIL‑STD standards (810, 1366, 1472, 31000, 461).
• Teamcenter PLM and SAP ERP.
• Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint.
• Jira and Agile/Kanban workflow tools.
