Materials Manager

About the role

The Materials Manager ensures the smooth flow of materials and products needed for production and operations at the Irving, TX depot. The role covers the full material lifecycle from procurement to distribution, keeps inventory balanced to avoid shortages or excess, and applies lean processes to reduce costs while maintaining quality and supply continuity. It is an onsite position, Monday to Thursday, 6 AM to 4:30 PM.

Key responsibilities

• Work with supervisors to meet customer priorities, assign tasks, coordinate work flow and monitor KPIs and labor efficiency
• Mentor and coach leaders, manage headcount and train new and existing staff
• Track and analyze departmental reports, set KPIs, and work with senior management on department and company goals
• Improve processes, introduce new models and ensure SLAs are met through reporting
• Manage cycle counts and inventory control, liaise with teams, shifts, vendors and customers, and maintain adequate stock levels
• Support business development and new customer acquisition, and keep the workplace clean, organized and safe
• Set document controls, hire, evaluate and discipline subordinates, and create training programs

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a business or related discipline
• At least 7 years in a logistics/distribution, fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment, including 5 years of data analysis and logistics and 2 years of inventory management
• At least 5 years of leadership experience, including 5 years managing supervisory personnel

Required skills

• Preferred: APICS CPIM designation
• Preferred: MRP/ERP, Oracle, Microsoft Great Plains, Visio
• Inventory control, inventory and warehousing procedures, Lean/6 Sigma, project and resource planning
