Manufacturing Engineering Specialist

About the role

Join 3M’s Old Hickory manufacturing site as a Manufacturing Engineering Specialist, supporting process engineering across all operations to drive safety, quality, service, and cost improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide process engineering support to manufacturing, applying Lean Six Sigma tools such as design of experiments, statistical process control, DMAIC, and Kaizen events.
• Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to troubleshoot equipment downtime and resolve issues.
• Monitor process capabilities, understand key customer needs, and drive continuous‑improvement projects.
• Lead cross‑functional project teams and manage project execution from planning to delivery.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering or related field (completed before start).
• Minimum seven years of advanced manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle.

Required skills

• Lean Six Sigma methodology (design of experiments, SPC, DMAIC, Kaizen).
• Technical experience with polymer extrusion, web handling, fiber spinning, and slitting.
• Project management and cross‑functional team leadership.
• Troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment and processes.
