Manufacturing Engineer II

About the role

Applied Materials seeks a Manufacturing Engineer II to develop and maintain methods, operating sequences, and processes for fabricating parts, components, sub‑assemblies, and final assemblies. You will collaborate with engineering functions to release product improvements and new products while applying lean principles and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide manufacturing engineering support for Final Assembly, Shipping, and Sub‑Assembly operations across a wide variety of products.
• Develop and improve operation sequences, manufacturing processes, assembly methods, packaging standards, and shipment preparation procedures.
• Evaluate and optimize manufacturing layouts, material flow, packaging processes, and shipping operations to reduce cycle time and improve efficiency.
• Maintain Bills of Material (BOMs), product structures, and configuration data; manage Engineering Change Orders.
• Determine root causes and implement corrective actions for assembly, test, packaging, shipment, and installation issues.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies to eliminate waste and increase operational effectiveness.
• Estimate manufacturing costs, establish labor standards, and recommend tooling, fixtures, and packaging solutions.
• Support qualification and validation of packaging, transportation fixtures, and material handling processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 2‑4 years of related manufacturing engineering experience.
• Strong conceptual knowledge and technical problem‑solving ability.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to explain complex information.
• Willingness to travel 20‑30% domestically and internationally.

Required skills

• Experience with SAP.
• Proficiency in PTC Creo.
• Familiarity with Smartsheet.
• Knowledge of Tableau or similar data‑visualisation tools.
