About the role
We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to develop advanced manufacturing processes for next‑generation battery cells, a core component of Tesla’s products. You will work across design, equipment build, testing, and quality teams to turn parts into high‑volume cell products that enable sustainable energy solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Design and scale manufacturing processes from lab‑scale to high‑volume production, improving quality, cost, and efficiency.
- Develop and operate manufacturing and test equipment, including automation, 3D printing, machining, fastening, and welding.
- Apply inspection methods such as vision inspection, leak testing, and electrical testing to support process development.
- Design and execute experiments to identify key process parameters, optimize yield, and reduce cycle time.
- Use software tools to generate predictive insights on tool and process performance.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including process specifications, manufacturing instructions, and PFMEA.
- Travel occasionally to Tesla factories, satellite sites, and supplier locations as needed.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience as a Process Engineer with a focus on process development, capability, troubleshooting, testing, validation, and data analysis.
- Strong fundamentals in solid mechanics and heat transfer applied to real‑world problems.
- Familiarity with high‑volume manufacturing techniques such as stamping, deep drawing, plastic injection molding, heat treatment, and metal welding.
- Hands‑on fabrication skills and ability to lead technical discussions.
