Manager, People Ops & Automation
Coinbase
Job description
About the role
Coinbase is looking for an AI-forward operator to lead its People Operations function, including the systems, signals and service model that power the employee experience. The role sits at the intersection of data, automation and people strategy: using AI and predictive insight to anticipate organizational needs, and leading a team that turns those insights into scalable, human-centered solutions. It involves designing, executing and continuously improving HR service delivery, working with IT, Payroll, HR M&A and HR Business Partners.
Key responsibilities
- Use Jira, Workday, ticketing trends, service-level data, employee experience signals and capacity data to anticipate where work can be simplified, standardized, automated or redesigned.
- Build and scale AI-powered service delivery, optimizing knowledge management, case management and employee lifecycle workflows, embedding generative AI and automation while keeping human oversight and compliance.
- Act as a strategic advisor to the People function and a trusted partner to Centers of Excellence, aligning HR functions to business priorities.
- Translate complex, cross-functional needs into process maps, requirements, success metrics, operating procedures and launch plans, routing work to the right tier (automated, self-service or human-supported).
- Lead and develop a team, modeling the use of data and AI in daily decision-making.
- Tie process and automation investments to efficiency gains, cost, risk reduction and employee experience improvements.
Required profile
- 7+ years of experience in People Operations, HR program management, operations strategy, process improvement, HR technology or a related field, including complex cross-functional portfolio leadership.
- Proven track record of using AI and automation to redesign operational workflows at scale in a global organization.
- Strong program management fundamentals: prioritization, governance, dependency management, executive communication and driving delivery through ambiguity.
- Experience partnering with HR technology teams on requirements, testing, data quality, controls and change adoption for Workday, Jira or similar platforms.
- Data-driven, systems-level thinker who connects operational metrics to investment decisions, employee experience, risk and business outcomes.
- Excellent communication, judgment and discretion with sensitive employee and business information.
Required skills
- Generative AI tools and copilots such as LibreChat, Gemini and Glean, used responsibly with human-in-the-loop practices.
- Workday and Jira.
Base salary ranges from $185,915 to $195,700 USD, depending on location; total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, and benefits such as medical, dental, vision and 401(k). Candidates may submit a maximum of 3 applications within a 6-month period.
