Job description
About the role
Efficio, a specialist procurement and supply chain consultancy, is looking for a commercially minded, hands-on HR Business Partner to support its growing US business. You will act as a trusted adviser to senior leaders, managers and employees, turning business priorities into practical, people-focused solutions. The role combines strategic business partnering with hands-on delivery across employee relations, performance, organisational change, employment-law compliance and employee experience. It is based in either New York or Chicago.
New York-based colleagues are expected in the New York office three days per week; Chicago-based colleagues travel to New York for one week each month.
Key responsibilities
- Build trusted relationships with US leaders, managers and employees, and act as their first point of contact for people matters.
- Translate business plans, workforce needs and organisational risks into clear, practical people plans.
- Coach managers on team dynamics, feedback, employee development and sensitive conversations.
- Manage employee relations matters with sound judgement, documentation, confidentiality and consistency.
- Advise on US federal, state and local employment law, company policy and HR best practice, engaging Legal or external counsel where needed.
- Support managers on performance, conduct, probation, grievance, leave and reasonable accommodation matters.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition, Finance and the global People team on workforce planning, talent, reward and organisational change initiatives.
- Use people data and employee feedback to identify trends, mitigate risks and improve the employee experience.
- Contribute to scalable policies, processes, manager guidance and local engagement initiatives across the US business.
Required profile
- At least 4 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in an HR Business Partner or HR Generalist role with significant business-partnering responsibility.
- Working knowledge of US federal, state and local employment law, with the judgement to identify risk and seek specialist advice.
- Experience managing employee relations and advising managers on performance and sensitive people matters.
- Strong stakeholder-management, coaching and communication skills, including the ability to influence senior leaders.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, balancing strategy with hands-on delivery.
- Discreet, proactive and highly organised, able to handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Authorised to work in the United States.
Required skills
- Strong analytical skills and confidence using HRIS and people data.
- Strong communication, empathy and relationship-building skills.
