Area Director of People Support (Human Resources)

About the role

The Area Director of People Support manages the human resources function for a cluster of hotels in the New England region. The role covers recruitment, training and development, benefit administration and employee relations, and works closely with the central People Support team. The position is based at the Marriott Mystic Hotel & Spa in Groton, CT.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with the central People Support teams so that benefits, compensation, leave, training and employee relations programs are effectively communicated and administered at the property level.
• Interview, select, train, schedule, coach and support associates so they meet brand and hotel standards and HHM core values.
• Manage talent acquisition: post jobs, source candidates proactively, interview and ensure hotel managers select the best qualified candidates.
• Process new hires in line with standards and applicable state, federal and local laws.
• Handle employee relations, promote a positive work culture, ensure fairness and provide unbiased assistance with associate issues.
• Develop and implement training programs and maintain a performance-driven culture that rewards good performance and addresses poor performance consistently.
• Follow safe work habits, wear protective equipment and comply with MSDS and OSHA standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field.
• 3 to 5 years of previous human resources experience; hotel HR experience preferred.
