Manager of Risk Management Operations

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a Manager of Risk Management Operations in Greenwood Village, Colorado. The role supports the corporate services risk management function and outside attorneys on lawsuits, claims and potential compensable events, and provides regional oversight of risk management activities.

Key responsibilities

• Support risk management and outside counsel on lawsuits, claims and potential compensable events, including medical records review, HFACS-RCA2 reviews and evidence gathering.
• Initiate claim files, secure documents and litigation holds, manage discovery requests, team interviews and deposition support.
• Coordinate with the claims manager and outside attorneys, and help develop regional risk reduction strategies and grievance resolution.
• Lead annual initiatives to reduce claims costs and oversee the Risk Management Information System, including standardized incident scoring and department access.
• Provide data reports and analysis, and coordinate insurance procurement and certificates of coverage for facilities and leases.
• Assist facilities and clinics in crisis intervention for serious risk incidents, and run monthly claims review meetings.
• Update quality teams on open claims and lawsuits, support the Patient Safety Evaluation System and provide education on identified risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field, or an equivalent combination (associate's degree with 4+ years, or high school graduate with 6+ years).
• 2+ years of risk management, quality and patient safety experience.
• Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) preferred.

Required skills

• Knowledge of insurance, workers' compensation, HPL and GL claims management.
• Knowledge of state and federal hospital-related reporting requirements.
