Manager, Internal Communications - Merchandising

About the role

The Home Depot's Internal Communications team works closely with senior leadership so that associates in stores, supply chain and support centers are informed and engaged. This Manager, Internal Communications - Merchandising position sits within that team, reporting to the Senior Manager, Internal Communications, with no direct reports. It focuses on developing and executing communication strategies, campaigns and messages across channels.

Key responsibilities

• Communications support (65%): proactively identify communications needs, develop strategies, plans, messaging and storytelling, align partners across the business, and monitor the effectiveness of communications to recommend improvements.
• Strategic business partnership and relationship management (20%): build in-depth knowledge of the business, craft clear messages for internal audiences, and work with senior leadership on internal communication strategies, programs and campaigns.
• Change management and high-impact communications (15%): support major announcements and crisis response, and lead, develop and run support strategies for change management, including monitoring feedback and refining support.

Required profile

• At least 5-7 years of experience in communications, public relations or similar fields.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in communications, public relations, English or a related concentration.
• Preferred: background in communications or public relations, retail or merchandising experience, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Preferred: proficiency in AP style of writing.
• Must be 18 or older, pass a background check and a pre-employment test if applicable.

Required skills

• Preferred: experience with Quorum, Viva Engage, Teams or other communication tools.
