Manager, Career Services & Internships

About the role

The University of Miami School of Communication seeks a full‑time Manager to lead its Career Services and Internships program. In this role you will create and coordinate professional development opportunities, connect students with alumni and industry partners, and enhance the overall career readiness of our communication students.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage internship pipelines, working with alumni, parents, and media representatives.
• Maintain relationships with internship providers, place students, and evaluate internship quality with faculty.
• Plan and deliver seminars, workshops, and networking events on resume building, cover‑letter writing, and professional development.
• Coordinate employer visits and manage the School’s Career Connection website.
• Create weekly email updates on new job and internship opportunities.
• Collaborate with faculty and student organizations to promote career activities and present in courses.
• Serve as a resource for alumni seeking employment and advise the Dean’s Student Circle Peer Mentoring program.
• Provide campus tours, conduct alumni surveys, and track alumni professional data.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum four years of relevant experience, including at least one year in an academic setting.
• Strong communication skills with students, alumni, parents, and industry professionals.
• Ability to work independently with moderate to low supervision.
• Knowledge of computerized information systems and the Microsoft Office suite.
• Basic design skills for electronic and print outreach materials.
