Manager, Accounting – ESG Controllership

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Manager, Accounting to lead ESG Controllership activities. The role sits within the Controllership function and works closely with the Director of ESG Controllership, Reporting to advance sustainability reporting, regulatory compliance and accounting deliverables.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and support implementation workstreams for global sustainability reporting requirements, including EU CSRD, ISSB, EU Taxonomy and California climate disclosures.
• Execute ESG reporting roadmaps, governance activities, metrics and disclosures aligned with corporate strategy and evolving regulations.
• Support climate and GHG reporting processes, collaborating with global and regional teams on emissions data and GHG Protocol considerations.
• Prepare, review and analyse ESG metrics and key performance indicators for regulatory, statutory and voluntary reporting.
• Leverage Workiva to manage ESG metrics collection, workflow, documentation and reporting outputs.
• Assist in evaluating ESG metric methodologies, calculation approaches, reporting boundaries, data definitions and key assumptions to ensure assurance‑ready disclosures.
• Develop supporting materials and aid delivery of regulated and voluntary sustainability disclosures across regions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in ESG reporting, sustainability metrics and regulatory compliance.
• Strong ability to coordinate cross‑functional teams including Controllership, Corporate Sustainability, Legal and external assurance providers.
• Knowledge of major sustainability frameworks such as CSRD, ISSB, EU Taxonomy and California climate disclosure requirements.

• Workiva platform for data collection and reporting.
• GHG Protocol for emissions accounting.
• Understanding of ESG metrics and sustainability reporting standards.
