Maintenance Technician (Manufacturing)

About the role

Axalta is looking for a Maintenance Technician (Manufacturing) to join its facility in Brighton, Michigan. The technician supports daily operations at the facility and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. The role covers maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing manufacturing equipment such as tank mixers, air diaphragm pumps, valves, piping, boilers and instrumentation. The shift is Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 3:30 PM, with occasional overtime depending on business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance inspections, calibrations and troubleshooting repairs on plant electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems to support production.
• Calibrate, troubleshoot and repair instrumentation such as flow meters, flow switches, level sensors, temperature transmitters, actuated valves and associated interlocks.
• Complete work orders, both preventative and reactive, as prioritized by department and area managers, and proactively address or report adjacent areas at risk of failure.
• Maintain work logs, parts inventory and preventative maintenance records.
• Assist with engineering projects including layout and design, specification development, new product evaluation, data collection and process and maintenance support.
• Install new equipment systems or upgrade existing ones.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience performing maintenance in a manufacturing, plant or industrial setting.
• Ability to work overtime, including weekends, as required.
• Ability to perform frequent physical tasks and to lift or exert up to 50 lbs of force.
• Ability to work in an environment with dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme temperatures and other environmental factors.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, with effective written and verbal communication, and to adapt to changing priorities.

Required skills

• Experience with electrical and pneumatic controls is strongly preferred.
