Maintenance Technician – 2nd Shift (Reno, NV)

About the role
Eaton’s ES GEIS BLD division is looking for a hands‑on Maintenance Technician to join the 2nd shift team in Reno, NV. You will keep critical plant equipment running smoothly during the 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM shift, ensuring production targets are met safely and efficiently.
Key responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, electronic, and mechanical faults on plant machinery and facility systems.
- Install, service, and maintain PLCs, HMIs, VFD drives, vision systems, motor control centers, power distribution centers, and various motor types (DC, AC, stepper, servo).
- Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on all production equipment, including inspection of circuits and compliance with NEC codes.
- Read and interpret electrical/mechanical blueprints, schematics, and control panel layouts.
- Operate lift trucks, man lifts, and boom lifts to access elevated work areas.
- Fabricate, machine, weld, prototype, and perform carpentry, plumbing, painting, masonry, and piping tasks as needed.
- Support Continuous Improvement and Lean initiatives across the facility.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED; technical school diploma or Associate’s degree in electronics or industrial electrical systems preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of commercial/industrial electrical or maintenance experience.
- Valid driver’s license and experience operating sit‑down and stand‑up forklifts.
- Familiarity with CMMS and SAP; proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
Required skills
- PLC, HMI, VFD, vision system troubleshooting.
- Motor control (DC, AC, stepper, servo) and power distribution.
- Three‑phase and single‑phase circuit installation and repair.
- Control panel layout and component installation.
- Electrical system inspection, NEC compliance, and preventative maintenance.
- Use of hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment.
- Lift truck, man lift, and boom lift operation.
- Fabrication, machining, welding, prototyping, plumbing, painting, masonry, piping, and carpentry.
- Continuous Improvement and Lean methodology.
- CMMS, SAP, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word.
