Maintenance Mechanic – Night Shift

About the role

Join Saputo’s production team as a Maintenance Mechanic working the night shift (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM). You will keep critical plant equipment running smoothly, ensuring high‑quality dairy production and a safe work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical failures on pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, and related process equipment.
• Maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, and flow‑control systems, including equipment rebuilds and part replacements.
• Troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and replace instrumentation such as level sensors, RTDs, proximity sensors, and photo‑eyes.
• Use a CMMS to create work orders, schedule preventive maintenance, and manage inventory.
• Operate forklifts, aerial platforms, and perform welding (wire‑feed, stick, TIG) to 3A stainless‑steel standards.
• Perform electrical troubleshooting, replace fuses, relays, transformers, and interpret electrical schematics.
• Maintain ammonia refrigeration, HVAC, boiler, steam, and plumbing systems, including weekend and holiday rotations.

Required profile

• Technical education or equivalent hands‑on experience in industrial maintenance.
• Ability to read safety rules, maintenance manuals, and technical drawings.
• Willingness to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Required skills

• PLC troubleshooting and programming basics.
• CMMS usage for work order management.
• Forklift and aerial platform operation.
• Welding (TIG, stick, wire‑feed) and stainless‑steel polishing.
• Machining skills (mill, lathe) and metal cutting.
• Electrical diagnostics (amp/voltage measurement, fuse testing).
• Hydraulic and pneumatic system repair.
• Ammonia refrigeration maintenance.
• HVAC, boiler, steam, and plumbing maintenance.
