Maintenance Carpenter

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Carpenter in the Williamsburg area of Virginia. The Carpenter maintains building woodwork and equipment such as bins, cribs, counters, benches, partitions and doors, performing carpentry maintenance and installations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and lay out work from blueprints, drawings, models or verbal instructions, using hand tools, portable power tools and measuring instruments, and make standard shop computations and select materials.
• Perform carpentry maintenance and installations, including repairs and responding to maintenance calls.
• Install and troubleshoot doors and door hardware, and prepare drywall to level 4.
• Install flooring: carpet, carpet tiles, LVP and laminate.
• Communicate with clients and team members, keep detailed work reports and prepare estimates, man hours, materials used and orders.
• Follow policies, procedures and service standards, and comply with safety and health requirements.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Real ID driver's license.
• Formal apprenticeship completed with 2 years of experience, or 5 years of carpentry experience.
• Active government-issued clearance, or ability to obtain one at application.
• Ability to work independently or in a team, make basic decisions and communicate well with clients and colleagues.

Required skills

• Reading blueprints, manuals and construction drawings.
• Use of carpentry tools and making shop computations.
• Door and door hardware installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Drywall installation and preparation to level 4.
• Flooring installation (carpet, carpet tiles, LVP, laminate).
