Machinist Journeyman – 2nd Shift

About the role

Johnson Controls Federal Systems is seeking a CNC Machinist (Journeyman) for its York, PA plant that designs and manufactures chilled water HVAC and refrigeration equipment for Navy vessels. The position works the 2nd shift (2 pm‑10 pm) on a full‑time basis.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines, including horizontal boring mills, SNK and Mori Seiki equipment.
• Fabricate, assemble, fit, braze, thread, and weld complex piping and pressure‑vessel components using stick, TIG, and manual arc welding.
• Read and interpret shop prints, process sheets, specifications, and tape‑controlled programs.
• Perform fixture change‑overs, load/unload parts, conduct on‑line inspections, and input data to ensure tolerances and finishes.
• Maintain tooling, monitor control messages, perform utility functions, and complete preventative‑maintenance checklists.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship and proof of Journeyman’s Certification.
• Ability to read shop prints, perform calculations, and use precision measuring instruments.
• 1‑2 years of trades training or equivalent experience with N/C controlled machines.
• Physical ability to work continuously with light to average‑weight materials.
