Machinist II – Contract Position

About the role

Airbus is seeking a Machinist II on a contract basis to join its Mobile Manufacturing Team. You will set up and operate CNC production equipment as well as manual shop machines to produce high‑quality aerospace components.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and run 3‑axis and 5‑axis CNC mills, lathes, routers, and lasers, as well as manual milling machines.
• Read and write G‑code using CAM software, create and modify DXF and GNH files, and generate machining instructions.
• Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work orders to determine machining parameters and tool selection.
• Perform inspections using various measuring techniques and ensure compliance with ISO documentation and SPC requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers and quality personnel to resolve machining issues and maintain safety standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a machine/fabrication shop as a CNC or manual machinist.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work onsite in Mobile, Alabama and adhere to safety and security protocols.

Required skills

• CNC machining (3‑axis and 5‑axis)
• Catia or similar CAD software
• CAM software and G‑code programming
• DXF and GNH file creation (Enroute, Gravostyle)
• Blueprint reading, GD&T interpretation
• Measurement and inspection techniques, ISO documentation
