Machine Operator (Aerosol) - A Shift

About the role

Saputo, a top 10 global dairy processor and one of the largest cheese producers in the USA, is hiring a Machine Operator (Aerosol) for a shift at its cheese plant. The pay range is $23.77 - $24.77. The position follows a 12-hour rotating schedule with alternating 3-day and 4-day weeks, covering Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and every other Wednesday from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM.

Key responsibilities

• Follow safety methods and procedures, including proper lifting and knife handling, MSDS and food safety standards.
• Check that the cheese used meets customer specifications, food safety and quality standards, and inspect products.
• Set up the machine correctly before running cheese.
• Maintain records and documentation neatly, accurately and legibly.
• Operate metal detectors as needed and complete the required paperwork.
• Perform minor maintenance and preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Keep the work area clean and organized and minimize waste, downtime and supply use.
• Assist with Quality Assurance protocols and documentation as required.
• Communicate clearly with supervisors, line leads, shipping and maintenance across shifts and sanitation.
• Work overtime, rotate into all necessary positions and follow all employee and safety handbook policies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Required profile

• High school degree or equivalent; recent manufacturing experience as an operator showing mechanical aptitude.
• Working knowledge of harps and cutters required; food production experience preferred but not required.
• Able to read, write and speak English legibly and understand production schedules and product specifications.
• Good decision-making, attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.

Required skills

• Ability to use hand and power tools.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions).
• Computer literacy in MS Office.
• Mechanical or electrical skills preferred.
