LPN / Medical Assistant – Outpatient Clinical Care (Internal Medicine)

About the role

The position supports the Internal Medicine ambulatory team at the Independence Family Health Center, part of the Cleveland Clinic Health System. You will work as a Licensed Practical Nurse, Medical Assistant, or Outpatient Clinical Care Assistant, providing direct patient care and administrative support in a fast‑paced outpatient setting.

Key responsibilities

• Perform patient screenings, collect specimens, conduct point‑of‑care tests, and document findings in the electronic health record.
• Assist with medication management, monitor patient conditions, and communicate changes to the care team.
• Maintain examination rooms, stock medical supplies, and ensure equipment is clean and functional.
• Handle administrative duties such as patient registration, appointment scheduling, and data entry.

Required profile

• Graduate of an approved medical assisting program or equivalent military medical training.
• Completion of a clinical externship or at least one year of recent healthcare experience in a hospital, ambulatory, or long‑term care setting.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or obtain within the new‑hire period).
• High school diploma or GED; for LPN role, a current Ohio LPN license.

Required skills

• Proficiency with an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Experience performing point‑of‑care testing and specimen collection.
• Ability to measure vital signs and conduct basic procedures such as EKG, Holter monitoring, and pulse oximetry.
• Basic wound care techniques.
