LPN Float Pool

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for its Float Pool to provide direct patient care, including IV therapy, under the direction of a registered nurse. This role supports multiple units, ensuring high‑quality, personalized care across the hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Effectively use the nursing process for data gathering, planning, and evaluation of patient care.
• Provide care based on physical, psycho‑social, educational, and safety criteria appropriate to patient ages.
• Communicate professionally with patients, families, and staff to ensure a quality experience.
• Adapt quickly to rapid changes in unit needs throughout the shift.
• Maintain personal professional development and required clinical credentials.
• Adjust behavior and communication style to respect patient privacy and specific population needs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of relevant nursing experience.
• Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Preferred: IV therapy credentials.
