Low Voltage Switchgear Production Supervisor, 1st Shift

About the role

The Production Supervisor leads, coordinates and oversees daily manufacturing operations for Low Voltage (LV) Switchgear and related electrical distribution products. Reporting to the Integrated Production Unit Manager, the role ensures production schedules are executed safely, with a focus on quality and efficiency, while meeting customer delivery commitments. The position is onsite in Mebane, NC.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the annual production budget, oversee its progress and take action to resolve cost issues so operations stay within budget and resources.
• Develop team members, projects, goals and metrics, and optimize working capital across operations.
• Reduce non-value-added costs, increase revenues and improve factory and supplier yields while lowering product field failure rates.
• Work with Operational Excellence teams to integrate lean manufacturing principles into production processes.
• Ensure capacity efficiency meets production expectations, identify gaps and set recovery plans.
• Lead by example, promote a culture of lean leadership and accountability, and ensure staff understand ABB's core values and safety and integrity standards.
• Coach and mentor teams and seek knowledge for their own development.

Required profile

• Preferred: Associate degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, Business or a related field, with 5+ years of manufacturing experience and at least 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Or equivalent combination: Bachelor's degree with 3+ years, or high school diploma with 7+ years of relevant manufacturing experience.
• Experience supervising hourly production employees preferred.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend and lift, push or pull up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of manufacturing operations, production processes, quality systems, inventory control and continuous improvement.
• Experience coordinating production schedules, workforce allocation and operational priorities.
• Understanding of production planning, materials management and supply chain processes.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP for production reporting, inventory transactions and operational management.
• Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement methods preferred; OSHA safety knowledge preferred.
