Lifeguard – Part‑Time Position

About the role

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Lifeguard ensures the safety of all patrons at the Charles River YMCA pool, enforces pool rules, and implements emergency protocols as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Continuously scan the pool to prevent emergencies and respond immediately to incidents.
• Perform rescues, administer CPR, First Aid, and emergency oxygen when required.
• Complete incident reports promptly and enforce pool rules.
• Maintain a clean, safe pool environment and assist with pool cleaning and testing when off‑duty.
• Participate in safety drills, trainings, and maintain clear communication with supervisors.

Required profile

• At least 16 years of age.
• Physically able to stand or sit for extended periods and lift up to 50 lb.
• Comfortable working in a moderate‑to‑high noise environment with variable shifts, including early mornings, nights, and weekends.

Required skills

• Professional Lifeguard certification.
• CPR, First Aid, and emergency oxygen certification.
• YMCA Lifeguarding training.
