About the role
The Slide Attendant oversees the slide area at the Waltham YMCA pool, ensuring participants follow pool rules and slide procedures for safety and enjoyment.
Key responsibilities
- Prevent accidents in the water and on the slide, providing emergency assistance when needed.
- Control slide usage by allowing participants to go down only after the lifeguard gives approval.
- Enforce pool rules, issue disciplinary actions when necessary, and complete accident reports.
- Attend staff meetings and in‑service training as required.
Required profile
- Ability to work outdoors in sun and stand or sit for extended periods.
- Physical capability to bend, reach, and lift up to 25 lb.
- Clear vision to monitor all pool areas and strong verbal communication skills.
Required skills
- Calm and effective reaction to hazardous situations.
- Ability to concentrate for long periods and project voice across noisy environments.
