Lifeguard II – Opening Shift

About the role

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Lifeguard II works the opening shift to ensure a safe and welcoming pool environment for all patrons.

Key responsibilities

• Continuously scan the pool to prevent emergencies and respond immediately to incidents.
• Activate the branch Emergency Action Plan and perform rescues, CPR, First Aid, and emergency oxygen as needed.
• Enforce pool rules, complete incident reports, and maintain a clean, safe pool area.
• Assist with pool cleaning and testing when off the lifeguard stand.
• Communicate consistently with supervisors and participate in safety drills and trainings.

Required profile

• At least 18 years of age and physically able to stand, sit, and lift up to 50 lb.
• Ability to work varied shifts, including early mornings, nights, and weekends.

Required skills

• Active Lifeguard certification (YMCA, Red Cross, etc.).
• CPR, First Aid, and emergency oxygen certification.
• Child Abuse Prevention and Workplace Respect training within the first four weeks.
