Lifeguard II – Part‑Time Aquatics Role

About the role

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Lifeguard II ensures the safety of patrons at the Parkway YMCA pool, enforces rules, and responds to emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Continuously scan the pool to prevent emergencies and respond immediately to incidents.
• Activate the branch Emergency Action Plan, perform rescues, and provide CPR, First Aid, and emergency oxygen as needed.
• Complete incident reports promptly and enforce pool rules.
• Maintain a clean, safe pool environment and assist with cleaning and testing when off‑duty.
• Communicate consistently with supervisors and participate in safety drills and trainings.

Required profile

• At least 18 years of age and physically able to stand, sit, and lift up to 50 lb.
• Ability to work varied shifts, including early mornings, nights, and weekends.
• Completion of required trainings within the first four weeks (Child Abuse Prevention, Respect in the Workplace).

Required skills

• Active Lifeguard certification (YMCA, Red Cross, or equivalent).
• CPR, First Aid, and emergency oxygen certification.
• Professional Lifeguard and Disappearing Dummies training.
• Child Abuse Prevention and Workplace Respect (sexual harassment) training.
