Lifeguard II – Evening/Closing

About the role

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Lifeguard II provides pool safety during evening and closing shifts at Oak Square YMCA. The role includes monitoring patrons, enforcing rules, and responding to emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Continuously scan the pool to prevent emergencies and respond immediately to incidents.
• Activate the branch and pool Emergency Action Plan, perform rescues, and provide CPR, First Aid, and emergency oxygen as needed.
• Complete incident reports promptly and enforce pool rules.
• Assist with pool cleaning and testing when off the lifeguard stand.
• Maintain clear communication with supervisors and participate in safety drills and trainings.

Required profile

• At least 18 years old with the ability to physically scan the pool and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and varied shifts.
• Completion of required trainings such as Child Abuse Prevention and Respect in the Workplace within the first four weeks.
