Fulltime Lifeguard II

About the role

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Fulltime Lifeguard II is responsible for guarding the pool, ensuring patron safety, enforcing pool rules, and implementing emergency protocols at the Oak Square YMCA.

Key responsibilities

• Continuously scan the pool to prevent emergencies and respond immediately to incidents.
• Activate branch and pool Emergency Action Plans, perform rescues, and provide CPR, First Aid, and emergency oxygen as needed.
• Complete incident reports promptly, enforce pool rules, and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Assist with pool cleaning and testing when off duty, and ensure doors are locked when no lifeguard is present.
• Participate in safety drills, attend required trainings, and communicate consistently with supervisors.

Required profile

• At least 18 years of age.
• Physically able to scan the pool, stand or sit for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Available for varied shifts including early mornings, nights, and weekends.
• Must complete required trainings such as Child Abuse Prevention and Respect in the Workplace within the first four weeks.

Required skills

• CPR certification.
• First Aid certification.
• Emergency oxygen (O2) certification.
• Professional Lifeguard certification.
• YMCA Lifeguarding certification.
