Lifeguard – Bath Health and Wellness Center

About the role

The Bath Health and Wellness Center, part of Cleveland Clinic Akron General, is seeking a Lifeguard to ensure a safe, sanitary environment for members using the facility for fitness, relaxation, and recreation. This position offers opportunities to develop water safety expertise and advance to instructional roles.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the pool continuously during patron usage hours and never leave it unattended.
• Perform daily and closing duties such as chemical testing, pool deck cleaning, equipment shutdown, and securing the facility.
• Provide preventive lifeguard supervision during open swim, lap swim, and scheduled programs.
• Enforce pool rules, respond to emergencies, and follow the Emergency Action Plan.
• Assist with equipment maintenance, attend mandatory in‑services, and maintain personal swim fitness.
• Teach swim lessons or lead programs using Red Cross or LifeStyles curriculum, taking attendance and ensuring participant safety.

Required profile

• High school education or equivalent.
• Current nationally‑recognized Lifeguard certification and First Aid.
• Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification (American Red Cross or equivalent).
• Willingness to work varying shifts between 5:00 AM and 10:30 PM, including weekends.
