Licensed Practical Nurse – Full‑Time

About the role

The Licensed Practical Nurse provides triage, patient preparation, education, and supports unlicensed assistive personnel in an outpatient clinical setting.

Key responsibilities

• Perform initial patient interviews, vital signs, and document complaints.
• Complete clinical forms, audit records, and ensure compliance with policies.
• Obtain specimens, lab and imaging results, and prepare patients for providers.
• Identify abnormal vital signs and report promptly to clinicians.
• Assist with minor surgical procedures and prepare exam rooms.
• Conduct basic triage for walk‑ins, telephone calls, and established patients.
• Perform procedures within scope: tympanography, audiometry, spirometry, medication administration, venipuncture, EKGs, vision screening, dressing changes, IV starts.
• Run basic laboratory tests (urine dip, finger‑stick glucose, pregnancy tests) and document results.
• Provide patient education and train other staff members.
• Manage inventory, stock medications/vaccines, and maintain equipment.

Required profile

• Graduation from a Licensed Practical Nursing program and current Alaska LPN license.
• Current BLS certification and cultural competence with diverse populations.
• Minimum one year of experience, preferably in an outpatient clinical setting.

Required skills

• Phlebotomy, injection, and intravenous start techniques.
• Venipuncture and basic laboratory testing.
• EKG and vision screening operation.
• Tympanography, audiometry, and spirometry proficiency.
• Proficient computer skills and familiarity with common office equipment.
