Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

About the role

Petaluma Health Center, serving Southern Sonoma County and West Marin, is hiring a full-time Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist to deliver high-quality psychological services in an integrated care setting. The therapist works as a flexible member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, assessing and diagnosing mental health and chronic conditions, designing evidence-based interventions and facilitating same-day and crisis services.

Key responsibilities

• Work as a collaborative member of the integrated care team, accepting warm handoffs and sharing skills and interventions with colleagues
• Use screening tools to assess mood, risk and progress, and diagnose mental health disorders according to DSM-V criteria
• Determine the appropriate level of treatment, coordinate care with community resources and tailor brief interventions
• Provide psychological assessment and brief treatment to individuals and families, document progress in medical records and collaborate with psychiatrists and other specialists
• Facilitate same-day access for patients needing behavioral health treatment or assessment
• Contribute to quality improvement and quality assurance, and follow clinic policies and procedures
• Keep all licenses current (including California LMFT, CE hours, CPR certification) and complete continuing education
• Perform other duties as assigned, including evening hours and assignments to outside locations such as school-based clinics and homeless shelters

Required profile

• Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling or another master's degree leading to LMFT licensure
• Current California LMFT license and ability to meet the center's credentialing and privileging requirements
• Bilingual in Spanish required
• Current Basic Life Support certification required
