Legal Counsel (Energy) – New York

About the role

A leading energy and infrastructure company is looking for a Legal Counsel to join its growing legal team in New York. You will work directly with senior leadership and support large‑scale infrastructure, transmission, power, and renewable energy projects across the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate EPC agreements, construction contracts, supply agreements, and other commercial arrangements.
• Advise project teams on legal, commercial, and contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support project development, financing, acquisitions, and strategic transactions.
• Partner with business, finance, operations, procurement, and engineering teams to provide practical legal advice.
• Manage claims, disputes, and contract administration matters.
• Assist with regulatory compliance and corporate governance activities.
• Coordinate with external counsel on specialist legal matters as required.
• Support senior leadership on strategic business initiatives and risk management.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) and an active license to practice law in the United States.
• 3–8 years of legal experience gained at a law firm and/or in‑house.
• Strong experience negotiating and drafting complex commercial agreements.
• Experience in energy, infrastructure, construction, project finance, renewables, or utilities is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with EPC contracts, project development, or construction‑related matters preferred.
• Commercially minded with strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
