Lecturer – Special Education (Non‑tenure‑track)

About the role
Texas A&M University–Texarkana’s Education Division seeks a non‑tenure‑track clinical faculty member to serve as a Lecturer in Special Education. The position involves teaching, mentoring, and advising undergraduate and graduate students in educator preparation programs, with a focus on special education pedagogy.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in education and special education using evidence‑based instructional practices.
- Provide instruction in face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online formats in line with university standards.
- Supervise teacher candidates during clinical placements, internships, residencies, and student‑teaching experiences.
- Mentor and advise students on academic progress, professional development, and certification pathways.
- Collaborate with K‑12 school partners to coordinate field experiences and ensure program alignment.
- Assess student learning and professional competencies using qualitative and quantitative data.
- Contribute to curriculum refinement, assessment review, and accreditation activities.
- Participate in service activities for the Education Division, university, and the broader profession.
Required profile
- Advanced degree (EdD, PhD, or equivalent) in special education or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience teaching special education or related courses at the college level.
- Ability to supervise and mentor teacher candidates in clinical settings.
- Commitment to data‑informed decision‑making and continuous program improvement.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
